Popis
Franz Schubert’s works for violin and piano, composed between 1816 and 1827, vividly document the evolution of his musical language—from the classical elegance of his early sonatas to the visionary breadth of his Fantasia. Founded in 2022 at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the duo of Ilya Gringolts and Anton Gerzenberg combines historically informed performance practice with stylistic openness. Playing on gut strings and a replica of a Conrad Graf fortepiano, the two musicians unfold an exceptionally colorful sonic world. Particular attention is paid to the improvised ornamentation in the repetitions—a bold and compelling interpretive choice that breathes new life into the works. Following Ilya Gringolts’ internationally acclaimed Bach album for Arcana (jpc 12407842), this recording marks yet another artistic highlight.
