Vedan Kolod: Wild Games

VEDAN KOLOD is celebrating its 15th anniversary and has always pursued one major goal: to keep the centuries-old musical tradition of their homeland alive! This is their first album since “Gorodische,” released in 2014. With “Wild Games,” the trio leaves behind its intense focus on medieval sounds and builds on its first album, “Tribes” from 2005, which explored the shamanic musical traditions of Siberia. “Wild Games” was recorded under live conditions and post-produced only very sparingly. The album’s backdrop is the Siberian forests that have been burning since 2019 and the dire ecological conditions in the Siberian taiga, where the trio’s ancestors once lived. Despite the difficult external conditions, “Wild Games” is an album shaped by the band members’ love for the harsh Siberian wilderness and its wild fauna. The animals and their “endless game with death” are the central themes of the album’s compositions.
