Cheryl Bentyne: The Book Of Love

A veteran member of the world-renowned Manhattan Transfer, Cheryl Bentyne releases her third solo recording on Telarc, following up on the highly successful 'Talk of the Town' (2003) and her Anita O'Day tribute, 'Let Me Off Uptown' (2005). 'The Book of Love' is made up of twelve evocative songs celebrating the diverse emotions of love and relationships. Cheryl has arranged the sequence and packaging of the recording to tell the story of a love affair - from the thrill of infatuation and flirting to longing to lust to eventual disillusion and ultimately to "goodbye." The music ranges from the lone voice of Cheryl accompanied by just a guitarist on "Be My Love" to the lushness of a 60-piece string orchestra on tunes like "You Don't Know Me," "You Go To My Head," "Cry Me A River" and the new "classic" "Don't Say A Word." Guest artists include Mark Kibble and Alvin Chea (from Take 6) on the title song "The Book Of Love" and John Pizzarelli on "Blue Moon."
