When a scholarly publication was dedicated to Georg Matthias Monn's music for the first time in 1908, there was unanimous agreement that this composer deserved a more comprehensive appreciation and in-depth research. None other than Arnold Schönberg published an arrangement of the Violoncello Concerto in G minor and thus saved it from complete oblivion. We thought it would be of great interest to many people to get to know the original and produced a CD of Monn's instrumental concertos with La Stagione under Michael Schneider, and voilà, here it is: one of the most stimulating and cheerful we have in our catalog. In addition to the cello concerto in G minor, which Rainer Zipperling plays as soloist, we have also produced two harpsichord concertos with Sabine Bauer and a violin concerto with the concertmaster of La Stagione, Mary Utiger.
