Björk In Jazz (LP)

With "Björk in Jazz", the In Jazz... series is expanding its concept to include an artist whose work hovers between experimentation, emotion and sound research like no other. Björk's songs - complex, poetic and full of idiosyncratic textures - are reinterpreted here by selected jazz musicians and transformed into surprisingly elegant, warm and atmospheric arrangements. The compilation impressively demonstrates how versatile Björk's compositions are: Whether as reduced piano, jazz, nuanced vocal jazz, spherical lounge versions or rhythmically accentuated modern jazz interpretations - each arrangement opens up a new perspective on the originals. The emotional core of the songs remains intact, while their structures and harmonies unfold a completely new freedom in jazz. "Björk in Jazz" is a loving tribute to one of the most visionary artists of our time and at the same time an inspiring jazz album that builds bridges: between pop and avant-garde, intimacy and expansiveness, tradition and experimentation.
