Daniele Luppi: Wilma (140 g) (LP)

Daniele Luppi is not only a two-time Emmy-nominated Italian film and television composer, but has also worked as a producer with artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, Danger Mouse, Jack White, and John Legend. With “Wilma,” he revives his passion for Italian cinema and its legendary film scores. From thousands of recordings by Italian studio musicians from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s, Luppi selected forgotten musical treasures and transformed them into his own cinematic soundscape through new arrangements, analog production, and contemporary timbres. He is supported by Michael Kiwanuka and Orion Sun, who not only provide vocals on the album but also contributed to the songwriting. Blending elements of spaghetti westerns, 1970s Italian soundtracks, and modern soul, “Wilma” tells a story of love in all its beauty and contradictions.
