Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel: Piano Trios

Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was certainly one of the most influential and intense composers of the 18th century. He shaped the musical age of Empfindsamkeit and Sturm und Drang more than almost anyone else, paving the way for the classical music of Mozart and Beethoven. But one should be wary of seeing him merely as a forerunner, for his wealth of imagination and expression can stand quite genuinely on its own. in the near future, cpo will be devoting itself to selected works by C. P. E. Bach and this month is releasing a selection from his piano trios Wq. 89-91, which Bach published under the title Piano Sonatas with a violin and a violoncello as accompaniment. The Trio 1790 with Harald Hoeren, Matthias Fischer and Philipp Bosbach will perform on contemporary instruments and record further works from the 18th century for cpo.
