After briefly crossing paths in Bournemouth in the 1960s, when Fripp took over Andy's guitar chair in the band at the Majestic Hotel in Bournemouth, it wasn't until 1981 - when Summers wrote to Fripp - that the two guitarists worked together. As King Crimson had just recorded the now classic album "Discipline" after a long break, Fripp immediately responded to Summers' suggestion to work together.
