California Dreaming was a concession to pop and thus in keeping with the spirit of the times. Guitarist Wes Montgomery, however, not only played versions of Sunny and California Dreaming, but contributed his own compositions such as the six-minute blues Sun Down. He is accompanied by a 17-piece band that includes Herbie Hancock on piano.
