"Mona Bone Jakon" was released in the spring of 1970, was not yet a real success as an album, but delivered a great hit single with "Lady D'Arbanville". His third album marked Cat Stevens' return to success after his second album had been a failure. After a slow sales start, the album achieved gold status after selling 500,000 copies in the USA.
UMR/Island is reissuing three consecutive Cat Stevens albums.
The first of these two albums, "Mona Bone Jakon", was released in April 1970 and introduced the public to the Cat Stevens sound we know and love today. Produced by Paul Samwell-Smith (formerly of the Yardbirds), the album included the single "Lady D'Arbanville" as well as fan favorites "I Wish, I Wish" and "Maybe You're Right". The track "Katmandu" also featured Peter Gabriel on the flute.
"Tea for the Tillerman" followed in November 1970 and is probably Cat's best known and most loved album. The album contained the classic tracks "Where Do The Children Play?", "Wild World" and "Father And Son".
"Teaser and the Firecat", Stevens' third LP in just 18 months, was released in September 1971. The album built on the overwhelming success of "Tea for the Tillerman" and contained some of his biggest hits, including "The Wind", "Moonshadow", "Peace Train" and "Morning Has Broken".
All three albums, reissued by Island / UMR, are presented on CD and 140g black vinyl, with remastered audio, the vinyl having been cut at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
