The Case of the Three Sided Dream is a documentary film by Adam Kahan about the life, music and political involvement of multi-instrumentalist Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Roland Kirk was one of the special musicians who made it to the top despite being blind at the age of 2. He is considered a prodigy of modern jazz. Characteristic of his music was the simultaneous playing of three saxophones. This required a special breathing technique that allowed him to play for long periods at a time without pausing for breath or setting down the instruments. His life's work was to explore music, and thus he combined traditional and modern ways of playing jazz such as soul jazz, boogie-woogie and free jazz. At the age of 40, at the height of his career, Rahsaan suffered a stroke and was left hemiplegic on the left side. Nonetheless, he continued his musical career, touring and now playing one-handed until the day he passed away. "You know, music is a beautiful thing. When I'm reborn, I want to come back as a musical note! That way, no one can catch me. They can use me as much as they want, it can't be too much. They can mess me up. They can play the wrong note. They can play a C, but they can't destroy a C. It's just a note. So I come back as a note." - Rahsaan Roland Kirk.
