Towards the end of his life, Joachim Raff turned to a project that one should not have expected from this artist, who was all too often called a prolific (and misunderstood) writer: an oratorio about the "end of the world, judgment and the new world" as depicted in the vision of St. John. It was a mighty undertaking with which he wanted to crown - and did crown - his already enormous oeuvre. The musical events focus on The Book with Seven Seals, this apocalypse interwoven with glowing, seemingly inexplicable images, which the composer has communicated primarily by the figure of St. John; in addition, an occasional angelic soprano voice, magnificent choral scenes, suggestive orchestral interludes and psalm songs - the Last Judgement on Joachim Raff puts an end to the old prejudices.Prihlásenie
