Marcus King has been causing a stir in the blues world for quite some time now, especially with his debut "Soul Insight" the guitarist and singer made a name for himself last year. 2016 saw the eagerly awaited second album from the just 20-year-old and his band: the self-titled "The Marcus King Band". King and his fellow musicians, drummer and percussionist Jack Ryan, bassist Stephen Campbell, keyboardist and organist Matt Jennings, saxophonist Dean Mitchell and trombonist and background singer Justin Johnson recorded a total of 13 songs for "The Marcus King Band". King himself handled the guitar department - from acoustic and electric to pedal and lap steel guitar. In addition, his soulful vocals are omnipresent. As with the predecessor, the songs of "The Marcus King Band" are a harmonious mixture of blues, rock, soul, country and Americana. In addition to his band, Marcus King was able to win two real blues rock top-class for the new album. None other than Derek Trucks is in the song "Self-Hatred" as a second guitarist in the game. In "Virginia", Warren Haynes also shines on the slide guitar. The latter also took over the entire production of "The Marcus King Band".
