Trachtenverein Roßecker
The 'Roßecker' (pronounce: ross'ecker] are a special cultural association. Founded in 1920 and named after the nearby mountain "Roßeck" (1664 m, 5459 ft). The varied activities of the association underline their folk-cultural importance. Their acitivities range from arts and crafts to fostering local traditions, lay theatre, folk singing, folk dance, "Schuhplattler" (special Austrian/Bavarian folk dance) and especially authentic traditional costumes. Their large children's group and the successes of the youth dance group prove that folk culture is attractive to young people as well as the older generations. Roßecker have been invited to many international festivals and they won the flag for "Best Styrian Dance and Schuhplattler Group" several times.
Some of their successes include first Prize in the all-Austrian competition of the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the Edlseer 2004, and participation in many international cultural and folk festivals in China, Germany, Italy, Canada, Poland, Romania, Spain, Hungary and many more.
The beautiful full colour booklet that accompanies this CD give extensive information about the music, along with richly detailed pictoral shots of the group performing.
